NVQ Level 2 Health and
Social Care
Who is it for?
This award is designed for staff who deliver physical,
emotional, or enabling care to clients, whether they work in
health and social care, in the public, private, or voluntary
sectors. It is designed to be relevant for staff in all care
settings.
Qualification
This award is about the delivery of health and social care
to individuals. This includes both direct care, where the
focus is hands-on care (doing things for the individual) and
enablement care, where the focus is on the development and
maintenance of the Individual’s independence (supporting and
enabling individuals to do things for themselves).
Course Content
The award is structured so that a learner will achieve six
units. For learners employed in a social care setting
inspected by Commission for Social Care Inspection, learners
must complete four core units and two optional units.

HSC 22 Support the health and safety of yourself and
individuals

depending upon work role and work setting.

during your normal working hours in order that you can meet
the requirements of The National Occupational Standards.
